kanekis online is a Canadian electronic project known for its blend of reverberated ambient textures, jungle-influenced breakbeats, and DIY club aesthetics. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, it is characterized by an elusiveness, choosing to emphasize visual world-building: utilizing photography of liminal urban spaces, over personal biography. The project first gained underground traction through a series of releases that explored the intersection of dance, IDM and contemporary internet music. These included solstice, finale/last fight, and the brasilian-phonk collaboration project, FUNK RENASCIDO. In 2025, kanekis online debuted with the full-length debut album, ambivalence. Collaborating with j-rock rockstar Scarlette Alexis of Solaire, and avid electronica savant Jelly Diver, each handpicked artist contributed to shaping the rough yet danceable outline of the album.
